  • Reposado: aged for at least two months in oak barrels.

  • Extra Añejo: aged for at least three years in oak barrels.

The different types of tequila will have different tastes. For example, Blanco tequila is more “agave-forward,” while Añejo tequila is more “oak-forward.”

  • You should know how to drink tequila – Tequila is meant to be sipped, not shot. It should be served in a small glass called a “caballito.” If you want to drink tequila the traditional way, mix it with sangrita. Sangrita is a non-alcoholic drink made with tomato juice, orange juice, and chili peppers. If you want to make a tequila cocktail, try a Margarita, Paloma, or Tequila Sunrise.
  • You can visit a tequila distillery – If you’re interested in learning more about tequila, you can visit a distillery. There are many distilleries in the state of Jalisco, where tequila is produced. Most distilleries offer tours, and some even have hotels and restaurants.
  • You should know how to store tequila – Tequila should be stored in a cool, dark place. Once opened, it will last for up to a year.
  • You should know how to spot fake tequila – Unfortunately, there is a lot of fake tequila on the market. If you’re buying tequila, make sure it’s from a reputable source.
